History of Maintenance Service Corp

Note: In 2014, Busch Precision, Inc. acquired certain assets including two lines of business from Maintenance Service Corp. (MSC), formerly based in West Allis, Wis., including its machine tool repair and CNC retrofitting operations.

Maintenance Service Corp. (MSC) was founded in 1951 to fulfill the machine tool service and machine tool maintenance needs of local Milwaukee, Wisconsin manufacturers. With a dedication to adapting to customers’ needs and a reputation for quality workmanship, this family-owned company grew from a garage sized machine tool repair shop into the nation’s largest independent machine tool rebuilder.

MSC was the technological leader in the Machine Tool Remanufacturing and CNC Retrofitting industry. MSC remanufactured more machine tools than anyone and has been retrofitting machine tools longer than any independent company in the United States. MSC completed over 20,000 projects and over 4,500,000 hours of machine tool services resulting in the largest independent database of machine repair in the US.

1951 – MSC was established as one of the first full service machine tool rebuilding companies in the Midwest

1984/1985 MSC first Siemens Retrofit on a Heald Grinder, first Fanuc Retrofit on two (2) Gray VTLs

2003 – MSC completes on of the largest CNC retrofits of a stand-alone machine in the US. 12 servo axes, 6-30 hp spindle drive Fanuc 150i control. Project completed in 2011, 8 machines, one 400 ft. bed totally $17,600,000

2004 – MSC is appointed a GE Fanuc Five Star Retrofitter, one of only 7 companies at that time

2008 – MSC is appointed a Siemens CNC retrofit partner making MSC the only company in the United States with the highest recommendation of both Fanuc and Siemens
